Baldwin Galls on Employers To Help Britain’s Workless

Reed. 11.15 a.m. LONDON, Monday. The Prime Minister, Mr. Stanley Baldwin, in a letter, urges each employer to offer employment to as many men and boys as possible from the depressed mining areas. He declares that employers who havi taken on some of them say that they are willing and capable. The Ministry of Labour adds that the hardships which are befalling men
from the depressed areas, who sta.rt on a vague, individual search for work, can be alleviated if the transfers are Carried out through employment exchanges, which will advance travelling expenses and the cost of removing families and effects, and provide separate maintenance for families for short periods. Tho letter is being dispatched to some 150,000 employers.
