Angora Rabbits Not Wanted Strong exception to the Government allowing Angora and Chinchilla rabbits to be brought into New Zealand was taken at the annual meeting of the Canterbury Sheepowners’ Union at Christchurch last evening. A motion was passed unanimously condemning the action of the Government in permitting the introduction of rabbits of any description whatever. * * * Million Fruit Cases The orders for imported fruit cases for the 1929 season will reach fully one million. The New Zealand Fruitgrowers* Federation has orders for 800,000, of which 600,000 are being taken by Nelson. Practically all the imported cases are used for the export trade, but of the total fruit produced in New Zealand two-thirds are packed in locally-made cases, and one-third in imported cases. * * * Support For Museum Bill Devonport Borough will support the War Memorial Museum Bill on some conditions. Mr. Harris, M.P., is to be advised that, if possible,' the maximum levy on Devonport is not at any time to exceed £250; that the total levy is to be definitely fixed at £6,000 per annum, and that if at any time the income of the Museum Board from sources other than the levy increases above the £2,000 now available the levy on the local bodies should be diminished accordingly.
