LYRIC AND EMBASSY

“ARE YOU FIT TO MARRY?” Described not as a picture of sensational happenings, but as a serious treatment of a serious subject, the photoplay, “Are You Fit to Marry,” is nowbeing shown at two theatres, the Lyric and the Embassy. “Are You Fit to Marry” deals frankly with the subject of inherited disease, and in a novel and interesting way shows the ill effects of a certain marriage. The man knew his blood was impure, but the woman was never told. When their child was born he realised to the full the truth of the saying, “The sins of the fathers shall be visited on the children even until the third and fourth generations.” In the unfolding of the story the human and dramatic elements have been so brought out that anyone seeing the picture is tremendously impressed. No one under the age of 16 years will be admitted at either theatre, by order of the New Zealand Film Censor. A second pictorial attraction is provided in “The Demon Rider,” starring the ever popular horseman, Ken Maynard. “The Demon Rider” has all the elements of a first-class Western picture, full of action and brilliant horsemanship. with a dramatic story of theft. The programme is completed by a vaudeville act of high calibre. This is the appearance of Sidney Dan. who does such amazing things as eating glass and nails. He also demonstrates his lability to escape from straightjaeßfets and handcuffs.
