GIRL’S LONG FIGHT AGAINST DEATH
TERRIBLE INJURIES DIVED INTO PROPELLOR The discharge from Perth Hospital of the 18-year-old Como girl, Miss Greta Bulline, marks the successful termination of what is regarded as the most remarkable fight against death carried on by any human being in this State. When she was shockingly mutilated by the propeller of a launch at Como, little hope was held for hei recovery. Her name was on the hospital’s danger list for five months. On November 27 last, Miss Bulline dived off Como jetty just as a launch commenced to move. She was caught in the propeller. Most of her limbs were fractured. Her most serious injuries were a compound fracture of the left leg, compound fracture of both feet, severe lacerated wounds and gashes, extensive abrasions, scalp wounds and shock.
Soon after her arrival at the hospital her left leg was amputated. Her case aroused State-wide sym pathy; £1,894 was collected for her.
