ST. JAMES THEATRE
BIG REVUE TO-NIGHT The reputation of the St. James Theatre for entertainment of a high standard will be further enhanced this evening with the first appearance in Auckland of the “League of Notions” Revue Company, a merry combination of singers, dancers, comedians and musicians headed by Queenie Paul and Mike Connors. The first piece of comedy on the programme this evening will be provided by Syd Beck and Ernie Paulasto (known as ’Orrie and Orb). They will be followed by Queenie Paul and Mike Connors in short acts and songs that demonstrate their amazing versatility. A feature of the show will be a number of one-act comedies scattered throughout the programme, and including on the cast Mike Connors, Queenie Paul, Ernie and Fred Pauiasto, Les Pearce, Gladys Shaw and Bert Rayne.
Clever dancing will be provided by Rougal and Rayne, Phyllis Baker, Valerie Rougal and the Exquisite Six, a ballet combination of unusual charm and grace consisting of" Elsie Barber. Leila Andrews, Phyllis Munro, lima Strange, Murial Cross and Dorothy Kerrigan.
Linn Smith’s Jazz Band has a featured place on the programme. The syncopating symphonists are Linn Smi.., (piano), James Coates and Tom Stratton (saxaphones), Tut Coltman (trumpeter), Clunny McPherson (banjo), and Gerald Connelly drums and tuba). The melodious music and catchy jazz tunes will keep the audience calling repeatedly for encores. The whole performance manes a very diverting show. The management announces that the
prices of admission for this revue season will be 3s, 2s, and Is. On the Saturday evenings, when the prices will be 3s, 2s, and Is 6d, the grand circle seats may be reserved.
