AN HOUR IN THE SEA

MAORI CAPSIZED FROM DINGHY (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Thursday. James Ross, a Maori, was rowing at Castlecliff alone in a dingy this morning, and when outside the breakwater capsized in the surf. A harbour tug was being prepared to help him when a friend swam out and brought him ashore in an exhausted condition after an hour in the water. Ross was rushed to hospital, and is now comfortable.

When tipped into the water he was wearing a heavy top coat, and he freed himself only with difficulty.
