MONEY IN FOOTBALL
HHHE English Rugby Union made a profit of £28,000 last season, compared with £20,000 the previous year. The biggest “gate” of the season was £12,732 taken at the match, England v. Scotland. Close behind it, came the £12,138 taken at the international match against New South Wales. The E.R.U. took a half share in this match. During the 1927-28 season, the E.R.U. advanced £11,450 to clubs on loan for the purpose of securing playing fields.
