TAKAPUNA NOT OPPOSED Provided the Auckland Water Supply Bill is amended so as not to confer power on the City Council to levy a rate on the borough it will not be opposed by the Takapuna Borough Council according to a decision reached at the latter body’s meeting last ingProvided no levy was made, it wa* stated, the Borough Council was not committed to any liability and it had the right to call for a water supf«> Bill if needed. It was decided at the last meeting of thd council to telegraph Mr. A. Harris, M.P.. notif vH!f him of its intention to oppose the Bin. but since then the City Council had notified that it did not propose to rate on the whole area and if authority to that eft'ect was given the Bill would ue amended. .. The Birkenhead Borough CoU “Jt advised that it proposed to oppose Bill and it was decided to meet tm other North Shore Boroughs in conference to explain .the counci attitude.
