PAKURANGA HUNT
GOOD RUNS AND A KILL HARE GIVES FOUR-MiLE CHASE The Pakuranga Hunt had a very enjoyable run at Pigeon Mountain, Pakuranga. Hounds were thrown off in Mr. George Thompson’s property, and worked through to Mr. Roberts’s, where a good, stout hare was raised. It led the field a merry dance round the pick of the Pakuranga hunting country. After making a circle round a number of properties it was lost on the road.
After another draw at the same point a hare was put up. It made a circle round Pigeon Mountain, and past the Pakuranga school, where it crossed the road and, with the pack in full cry, it crossed a stream, leading the chase through beautiful hunting country. It was finally run to earth and killed on Mr. Fred Roberts’s property, after a run of over four miles.
Another successful draw was made on Pigeon Mountain, and the quarry followed practically the same course, eventually finding shelter in a ditch. Mr. H. Bullock-Webster, master of the hunt, was in charge.
