CLUB BIRTHDAY Members of the Whangarei Women's Club observed the eighth birthday of the club last week by a social gathering In the new club hall, Rust Dane, at which a clever presentation of the play “Acid Drops” was given by Mesdames Wolff, Radcliffe, H. Smith, O. Woolley, Donaldson, Trimmer, and Miss Radcliffe. Birthday gifts were presented by many of the members. P. AND T. BALL. On Wednesday evening the local Post and Telegraph Department held its annual ball in the Town Hall. There were about 250 couples present, and the artistic decorations and pretty coloured lights lent a charm to the scene which has rarely been equalled in Whangarei. During the evening Miss Joyce Williams gave a solo exhibition of Egyptian dancing. The organisation and control of ceremonies were effectively done by Messrs. Maxwell, Lilly, C. Williams, Mesdames Williams, Morgan, Trask, Smith, Cleverly, Kerr, and Misses Smith, Wright, Lundon, Mangos, Dommett, and Messrs. Manning, S. Boyd. L. Morgan, Lockie, Johnstone, Richards, Semple, McLennan, and Redwood.
