HIS MAJESTY’S
LAST NIGHT OF “THARK”
The last opportunity of seeing the best of Ben Travers’s comedies, “Thark,” is given to Aucklanders this evening. “Thark” is undoubtedly the biggest laugh of the year in straight-out farce. The New English Comedy Company which made such a big success of “The Cuckoo in the Nest,” and “Rookery Nook” excels itself in the third production.
“Thark” is the name of a country house which gains the reputation of being haunted, and the cast of characters includes a gay old baronet, a young girl, a muddled butler, a lass in pyjamas and a ghost. A muddle of sweethearts and wives, mistaken messages and subterfuge provide Mr. Lynn and Mr. Vernon with all the material they need to disperse the blues for ever and a day. They form the ideal contrast.
