ENGLISH SOIL EXPERT
VISIT TO BUSH-SICK LAND
The bush-sick areas of the Rotorua I district were visited by the English i soil expert. Sir John Russell, in company with members of the Department of Agriculture, during the past week. Other members of the party included Messrs. B. C. Aston. C. M. Wright and ' Dr. Arnott. On Friday the Government oxperi- j mental farm in the Mamaku district ! was visited. It is here that much in- ; teresting and practical scientific work ‘ is being carried on in connection with sick soil problems. The visitor also met the new settlers on the Rotorua-Atiamuri Road and gave a short address on manuring and j grazing. Later the party travelled via I Atiamuri northwards through the To- ; koroa and Lichfield districts seeing an- j other large portion of the pumice country.
