BROWN SHIELD GAMES A Robinson (Pukemiro) writes: I notice that the South Auckland F.A. is going to play its second challenge for the Brown Shield at Hamilton. Last season two challenge games were played, both at Hamilton, and at that time representations were placed before some of the officials to play one of the games on the Huntly ground, so that the supporters of Soccer from the mining townships would have a chance of seeing a representative game. But although the mining towns around Huntl provide five of the seven senior teams now in the competition, they are to be debarred from seeing a representative game played on the Huntly ground. As far as “gates” are concerned, the association has no argument. I was present at the first Brown Shield game played on Seddon Park this season, and I could safely assert that if the supporters from the mining towns had been deducted from the crowd that attended, there would not be more than one hundred Hamilton supporters present. If the South Auckland F.A. wants the game of Soccer to prosper, then I would suggest that it give to its supporters around Huntly district the same privileges as it is giving to its Soccer “fans” in Hamilton. “One of Your Readers.”—The result was received at 2.5 p.m. and the Hag was hoisted;, immediately after. “H.M.S. Philomel.”—Heeney was not knocked out.
