OTAHUHU ORPHANS HOLD ANNUAL “AT HOME'

The members of the Otahuhu Or- i phans’ Club, and a very large number of their friends, met in the Otahuhu public hall on Tuesday evening, when the club held its annual “At Home” and ladies’ night. In addition to the fair guests, representatives were present from tin?, majority of sister clubs in the Auckland district, among whom were Bro. J. Crawford, president of associated kindred clubs; Bro. Percy Howden, Auckland Orphans’ Club; Bro. J. Fletcher, secretary Devonport Orphans’ Club; Bro. R. Buchanan, president, and Bro. C. A. Osborne, secretary, Onehunga Orphans’ Club; Bro. H. PI. O’Loughlin, president Pukekohe Orphans’ Club; Bro. D. M. Lawson, secretary Pukekohe Orphans; Bro. W. K. Frances, president,. and Bro. S. L. Anderson, secretary, Papakura Orphans’ Club. Apologies were received from Bro. H. S. King, president Devonport Club, and the president and secretary of the Takapuna Club. The hall presented a very gay spectacle, with coloured streamers twining in all directions, and strings of pennants hung across the hall. Palms were arranged around the walls, and the stage was decked with hanging ferns, vividly coloured paper poppies, and Japanese lanterns. A very enjoyable programme of musical items opened with an overture by the club’s orchestra, under the leadership of Bro. Edwin Parker, and vocal items were given by Bros. Frank Sutherland, McKevitt, C. Hunter; violin solo, Bro. Neville Walker; sentimental items, Bro. Graham Holder; juggling, Bro. Norman Tate; some magic, Professor D’Almaine; accompanist, Bro. J. Hutton. President Bro. W. W. Massey presided. Among those present were: Mis. W. W. Massey, wearing a smart gown of pavlova blue georgetet. Mrs. G. V.
