PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT CLEVEDON HARE SAVED BY MOTORS A fair following of supporters attended the meet of the Pakuranga Hunt Club held at Clevedon on Tuesday. Before commencing the first run the hunt partook of breakfast, supplied by the ladies of Clevedon, and at the conclusion of the day’s sport, afternoon tea was provided. Hares throughout the day were not very plentiful, and those which were raised gave disappointing runs. The first draw was made among some rushes, and aitex* a short run the quarry found shelter in a swamp. The second hare was raised nearby, and took to hard country, followers having to negotiate big drains and double wire fences, and after a short chase the hounds weer called in. The best run of the day was over a three-mile course, where a good variety of obstacles weer encountered. “Puss” eventually took to the road, and motor-cars following up the chase covered the scent, the hare making a clean get-away.
