It is officially announced that the English cricket team for Australia is as follows: A. F. F. Chapman (captain). J. C. White (vice-captain). D. R. Jardine. J. B. Hobbs. H. Sutcliffe. E. TyWesley. W. R. Hammond. M. W. Tate. M. Leyland. H. Larwood. L. Ames. A. P. Freeman. K. Hendren. C. P. Mead. G. Duckworth. •S. Staples. Another man will probably be added. An earlier message said;—The utmost secrecy is maintained by the committee of the Marylebone Cricket Club about the nucleus of the England eleven to tour Australia, which it is understood was selected yesterday. Even the place and time of the meeting were kept secret, the only intimation available being to the effect that the names would not be issued until after the meeting, some time next week. Everybody concerned appears to have been bound to secrecy, but in one or two quarters the names of Ames and Leyland are mentioned in addition to those of ih«‘ asoned veterans.
