Bull ‘Goes Quietly'
Detective Effects Exciting Arrest LASSOOED FROM CRANE (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Dangling in a basket, suspended from a travelling crane, only a few feet above the horns of an infuriated bull, Detective Tricklebank effected an exciting “arrest” this The animal escaped from the Thorndon railway yards, but was soon trapped in a shed on the Pipitea Wharf. Mr. Tricklebank attempted to lassoo it without success, and had several narrow escapes. Eventually, suspended in the basket, he got the rope in position. It took fully half an hour before the bull was thrown, and by that time it presented a picture of rage, with its bloodshot eyes and heaving sides.
By means of the crane the bull was lifted off its feet, after which, finding further resistance futile, the bull decided to “go quietly.”
