POWER SHUTS OFF IN HERNE BAY AREA

FAULT IN FEEDER RAIN HINDERS REPAIRS A fault in a feeder was responsible for a power interruption on the Herne Bay waterfront on Saturday night. Light was restored in the greater part of the district after an hour and a-half’s work, but the area from Curran Street onward did not have power until 11 a.m. on Sunday. This was on account of the rain hindering repairs at the Wallace Street cable-box. In wet weather satisfactory repairs cannot be carried out on such hightension boxes. When the fault in the box developed, one of the high-tension feeders in the Ponsonby sub-station was affected, lights going out from St. Mary’s Road to a part of Avondale. Permanent repairs will be made, but no further trouble is expected.
