M R A. Singer left last evening on a’visit to Wellington. The Hon. W. li. Triggs, M.L.C., left for the South last evening. dir George Elliot returned to Auckland to-day after a short visit to Wellington. Mi- W. R. Davidson, assistant chief engineer* of railways, arrived from Wellington yesterday. Mr. H. P. Kissling. who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning. The Hon. J- A. Young, Minister of Health, arrived in Hamilton this morning for the week-end. Mr. Beaumont Smith, of J. C. Williamson Films, returned to Auckland this morning from Wellington. The Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., and the Hon. J. B. Gow, M.L.C., arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. A. Leitch, of the Union Bank of Australia, has been appointed general manager of the bank in succession to Mr. A. H. Chambers. Mr. Innes Randolf, regional manager for General Motors, will arrive from New York by the Port Bowen on Tuesday. He will be accompanied by Mrs liandolf and their family. Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., Mr. V. IT. Potter, M.P., Mr. J. S. Dickson, M.P., Mr. E. D. McLennan, M.P., and Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., arrived by the Limited this morning from Wellington. The Japanese Consul-General in Australia, Mr. I. Tokugawa, is a passenger on the Ulimaroa for Wellington, where ho will welcome the Japanese warships. Afterwards he will come to Auckland on official business. The appointments are gazetted of the following members, among others* of the Assessment Court, under the Valuation <s'f Land Act, 1925, for their respective districts: Mr. Edward Averill (Hawke’s Bay).
