TRINITY COLLEGE, LONDON
AUCKLAND TEACHER’S SUCCESSES An unusual list of successes has been achieved by an Auckland music teacher in the recent Trinity College, London, musical examinations. The teacher is Miss Alice Law, L.K.A.M., and her pianoforte students obtained the following results: Licentiate Diploma (and gold medal), Senior Division (silver medal). Intermediate Division (honours), and Junior Division (silver medal). Never has there been turned loose, perhaps, such a riot of fun and laughter in one picture as there is in “Why Sailors Go Wrong,” which is shortly to bo released throughout New Zealand. This latest Fox Films feature is the story of a boy and girl, played by Sally Phipps and Nick Stuart, and two cabdrivers, all of whom are made prisoners on board a yacht which, after a storm at sea, is wrecked on a tropic island. Tljeir adventures with lions, apes, crocodiles, and cannibals are tilled with thrills, suspense, and, above everything else, with hilarious laugh-provoking situations. Ted McNamara and Sammy Cohen have the roles of the cabdrivers.
The Universal Company thought the Denny picture, “On Your Toes,” was about the high mark of Denny productions for this year until they saw “Good Morning, Judge” recently. The unanimous opinion now is that “Good Morning. Judge” is the best Denny yet. It was directed by William Seiter and the east includes Mary Nolan. Dorothy Gulliver. Otis Harlan, Hull Montana and Sailor Sharkey.
