PAINTERS WANT LOWER APPRENTICESHIP AWARD
ARBITRATION COURT CASE Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. An application was made to the Arbitration Court at Wellingtoo by the Master Painters’ Association for a reduction in the wages of apprt- iices in the painting and paperhanging trade. Mr. Prime, who represented the employers, said conditions had champed since the present rates were fixed. Thapplicants wanted the rates reduced to what was generally recognised as standard apprenticeship rates in similar work, and related trades. Mr. Justice Frazer said no decision would be given till after the hearing of evidence at Auckland and Wanganui.
