When their home at Waihi was destroyed by fire early this morning, Mr. Otto Langer, his wife and three children had a narrow escape, having to leave in their night attire. A five-roomed house in Roberts Street, Waihi, occupied by Mr. Otto Langer, was completely destroyed by fire at about 5 o’clock this morning. Tho occupants, who included three children, woke to find the house ia flames and escaped in their night attire. Only a box of clothing and some garden tools were saved. The fire brigade was early on the scene, but could render no material assistance as there was no water available. The house, which was valued at £450, was insured with the State Insurance office for £2OO and also in the Northern Office for £IOO, and the furniture, valued at £4OO, was insured with the Northern Company for £260.
