Obituary
MR. ALEXANDER IRONSIDE Formerly superintendent of the Mount Eden Prison, Air. Alexander Will Ironside, died at his home at Mount Eden yesterday morning at the age of 73. II was born and educated in Edinburgh. Scotland, and later joined the police force there. He migrated to the Dominion in ISBO. and joined the armed constabulary. Afterwards he was transferred to the prison service and was gaoler first at Hokitika and then at Lyttelton. He was finally appointed superintendent at Mount Eden, and retired in 1920. Air. Ironside was a keen bowler, and was a member of the Dominion Road Rowling Club. He was also a member of the Alasonic Lodge Auckland, No. i S 7. He leaves a wife, three sons and j three daughters. MR. G. P. FORD The death occurred at his residence, i Te Tumu, on Tuesday night, of Mr. George Pinckney Ford, a well-known j resident in the Te Puke district. He ! was a member of the Kaituna River | Board. Tumu Kaituna Drainage Board j and the Maketu Cemetery Board. He was a keen boating enthusiast, and frequently took parties all round the bay on fishing trips. Air. Ford leaves • a widow, who is at present on a holiday in England, and two sons. Air. ' Fred Ford, a broker in Dunedin, and i Mr. Jack Ford, manager of the Flax ! Lands Development Company.
