UNLICENSED BUSES

TRANSPORT TO SPORTS LEGALITY QUESTIONED A test case will be taken to ascertain the legal position regarding buses conveying passengers to race meetings and football matches. The question of whether these buses should be licensed was considered at yesterday’s meeting of No. 1 Licensing Authority. Mr. E. J. Phelan said that the fare charged was 3d, and it seemed to him that the penal charge was being exceeded. Air. J. A. C. Allum said the position was quite unfair. Some services were licenced while others were run as the owners pleased. Several suggestions of a solution were offered, but it was decided finally to have the question submitted to the court.
