RECORD SUGAR DEAL

300,000 TONS BOUGHT • COST OF £3,500,000 (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) Reed. 12.15 p.m. LONDON, Monday. Czarnikow, Limited, completed the world's record sugar deal, when 300,000 tons were purchased from the Cuban Export Corporation for British refiners at a cost of £3,500,000. Sixty boats will bring the sugar to Britain in August and December. The purchase is largely due to Budget changes protecting British refiners.
