FLIGHT ROUND DOMINION UNLIKELY
FEW LANDING GROUNDS (Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. It is not expected that SquadronLeader Kingsford Smith will visit any centres other than Christchurch, as it is doubtful if suitable landing places can be found elsewhere. A plane of the size of the Southern Cross requires a runway of at least 600 yards under the best conditions. In the circumstances Sockburn seems to be the only suitable ground. None of the hangars at Sockburn will be large enough to house the airplane, which will therefore have to re main in the open during Its stay there. It is suggested that a charge will be made for admission to the airdrome on the occasion of the arrival of the airmen, the funds thus raised to be devoted to unemployed relief. An effort will be made to give school children an opportunity of seeing the landing.
