AERONAUTIC LECTURES
PROPOSAL TO UNIVERSITY COUNCIL SMALL FEE REQUIRED The Auckland University College Council was asked yesterday to allow a room at the School of Engineering to be used for the purpose of holding lectures for the members of the Auckland Aero Club. Mr. D. E. Harkness, who is on the Engineering School staff, wrote a letter in which he stated that he and other experts proposed to deliver lectures on aeronautics. There were two airplane engines in the school, and these would be useful for demonsration purposes. Sir George Fowlds, president of the council, said the council could be expressed as cordial toward the proposal, but it was unreasonable to suggest that the aero club could have the use of an expert member of the staff and college equipment without some payment being made. It was decided that the president should consult with Mr. Harkness, and then make a report.
