THE BOXING KANGAROO
COMING TO AUCKLAND A very attractive programme will be presented at the Majestic Theatre next Friday. Instead of there being only one feature picture, two pictures, both of a very high standard, will be screened. The first of these will be “Bringing Up Father,” from the wellknown newspaper cartoon, and starring Marie Dressier, Polly Moran and Farrell MacDonald. The second attraction will be “The College Widow,” in which beautiful Dolores Costello makes a triumphal entry into light comedy. “The College Widow” is a merry college comedy, recounting the demure adventures of the daughter of the college president who. to win much-needed funds, recruits a football team, each member of which believes, himself to be the chosen suitor. William Collier, jun., has the leading role. A distinct novelty as far as Auckland is concerned will be the appearance on the stage of “Jerry.” the boxing kangaroo. His appearance in the roped arena has attracted considerable interest both in Australia and America, and his antics have caused many a hearty laugh. Jerry’s visit to Auckland should prove highly popular, and no one should miss this novel stage turn. Love is but a step lymoved from hate, drama is but a step removed from farce. This is the opinion of Glenn Tryon, who appears with Patsy Ruth Miller in the Uni versa! production. “A Hero for a Night.” Farce comedy plots such as in "A Hero for a Night” might just as easily be used for a heavy emotional drama with either a tragic or a .happy ending.
