JUDGE mis WORKERS THEIR DUTY TO NATION

“APPLY ALL RESOURCES”

44-HOUR WEEK REFUSED

(United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9.5 a.m. ADELAIDE, To-day. The Adelaide president of the State Industrial Court, Dr. Hewitson, has refused the Amalgamated Engineers 44 hours’ week claim for the smelting industry at Port Pirie.

He declared that the public interest at present lay in the expansion of production and the services of public utility. The first need of Labour was an opportunity for employment. The first duty of the community was to apply all resources, intellectual and material, to ensuring that opportunity.
