House Will Talk on Samoa Next Week
PARLIAMENT’S BUSINESS
FILM QUOTA BILL
(THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. An absorbing item of party discussion next week will be the Samoan report, which the House, being in recess when the Commission returned from Apia, has not yet had an opportunity of considering. This much was indicated by the Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates, when questioned by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. H. E. Holland, to-day.
“It is anticipated,” said Mr. Holland, “that the present debate will end this week or early next week, and it w’ould help considerably if the Prime Minister could tell the House what business is to be brought down when it concludes.” The Prime Minister said Tuesday would be taken up with reports and giving notices of committees. Mr. Holland: Can you say what report? Mr. Coates: I can say what report I think it will be, but I am not positive that it will be printed and ready. I refer to the Samoan report, and there are others centring round departmental matters. There are also Bills to introduce, including the Film Quota Bill. These are mainly to be referred to committees.
“Then, Wednesday will be private members* day. On Thursday we will proceed with reports and Bills. I will take the opportunity, early, of informing the House of pending national business.”
