OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL
An application was made by the Auckland Gas Company at the meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council, laat evening, for the relicensing of the social room above their Otahuhu branch. The town clerk advised that the room referred to did not comply with the borough by-laws, as no emergency exits were provided. He advised that it was originally licensed as a demonstration room only, for the use of the company, and was not intended for outside functions. The building inspector was requested to submit a report on the subject to the next meeting of the council. The Mount Wellington Road Board complained of the charge of 14s for delivering water during the recent drought. The town clerk reported that the road board was charged Is 3d a 1,000 gallons, and it retailed it at 7s for 300 gallons. The matter of collecting the account was left in th® hands of the town clerk. Messrs. R. B. Todd and T. Clements were appointed delegates to attend the conference called by the Manurewa Town Board, to consider applying to the Main Highways Boan. for a grant towards the annual charges on the loans already expended. in the laying of permanent roads through their districts. An application from the Papakura Town Board, to be included in the area, served by the traffic inspector at present employed by the combined local bodies of Otahuhu. Papatoeto® and Manurewa, was referred to the special committee. The building inspector reported uui building permits issued for June
amounted to £6,829. The works committee was instruct to negotiate with the Mount W ington Road Board, regarding repai> to Portage Road, which is under dual control of the two bodies. Mr. A. Greville Walker, consulting engineer to the board, submitted No. 1 plan of the town-planning scheme. . .
