DICKENS FELLOWSHIP
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING “Bleak House” was the subject for the fortnightly meeting of the Auckland branch of the Dickens Fellowship held last evening at “The Castle” (Wemmick’s). Mr. F. S. T. Little, vice-president, was in charge of the programme, and delivered a criticism of “Bleak House.” This was supplemented by readings of the descriptions of the Court of Chancery and Miss Elite’s apartments. The following readings were given: “Mrs. Pardiggle,” Mrs. Choyce; “The Death of Jo,” Mrs. Preston Chambers; The Death of Mr. Tulkinghorn,” Mr. Watson; “Mr. Guppy’s final proposal,” Mr. G. G. Grant. The programme concluded with an admirable sketch, “Mrs. Snagsby’s Guests.” The cast was as follows:—“Mr. Snagsby,” Mr. C. Kidson; “Mrs Snagsby,” Miss M. Robinson; “Mr. Chadband.” Dr. Kenneth Gordon; “Mrs. Chadband.” Mrs. Kenneth Gordon; “Jo,” Master G. Linthwaite; “Guster,” Mr. J. D’Authreau. “Dickens in America,” will be the subject for the next meeting.
