HOSPITAL ENGINEER
RECENT APPOINTMENT NOT TAKEN UP SPECIAL MEETING CALLED Mr. A. E. Rhodes, who on July 3 was appointed engineer to the Auckland Hospital Board, is now not taking up the appointment. A special meeting of the board will be held to-morrow afternoon to make another appointment. Mr. Rhodes, who was selected from nearly 200 applications, stated that he was a member of the Institute of Engineers and of the Society of Civil Engineers. He is 37 years of age and has had 19 years’ experience as an engineer. From the 200 applications received the Finance and Buildings Committee selected 10 to be read, the candidates to be interviewed in open board. It is stated that the 10 selected were men with excellent records in the engineering profession, and it is understood that some of these men will be recalled as candidates for the position now vacant.
