“NO PARTY ALLEGIANCE”

PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION COUNCIL’S ANNUAL MEETING Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the council of the Protestant Political Association opened to-day, the president, Mr. I. J. Bridger, presiding. The following resolutions were passed: “That this council affirms that the Protestant Political Association has no political party allegiance, and urges all members in the forthcoming geneneral elction to support only those candidates for Parliament who may be relied on to place the great moral, social and patriotic interests of the Dominion and Empire above party consideration. “That this council protests against the extension of railway concessions to boarders attending private and sectarian schools, and expresses the conviction that the concessions already in force are inimical to the interests of the national system of education, and help to foster religious distinctions, prejudicial to the welfare of the State and the people.” The following officers were elected: President, Mr. L. A. Taylor; vicepresidents, Messrs. L. A. Rhodes, J. Cocker and G. J. Harford; executive, Messrs. Ashman, Bridger, Mayes and Hughes; Dominion secretary, Rev. Howard Elliott.
