NEW LYNN INTERESTS
DRAINAGE TENDER ACCEPTED The New Lynn Town Board met on Tuesday evening-, the chairman, Mr. W. L- Titchener, presiding. Seven tenders were received, for a contract for drainage reticulation work. That of Forrest Bros., at £5,291 195., was accepted. The traffic inspector reported that since April 4 fines collected by the Town Board amounted to £lB 10s. Since April 1 licence fees amounting to £9O 4s were collected, making a total of £IOB 14s. The ranger reported that for tire six months ended June 30 revenue from the public pound amounted to £l3 19s 6d. The report of the district sanitary inspector showed that during th© month there were no cases of infectious disease and the general sanitation of the district was good. In response to a recent request for the establishment of a public telephone box in New Lynn, a reply was received from the Postal Department stating that owing to the estimated deficiency the application could not be granted. It was decided to renew the request. The Railway Department notified that it would provide extra accommodation on the 5.13 p.m. workers’ train from Auckland. The department did not think an extra train was warranted.
