INCREASE IN PRODUCTION Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. Grading returns issued by the dairy division of the Department of Agriculture for 11 months ending June 30 show an increase for butter of 3.S per cent, at 73,859 tons, and for cheese a decrease of 0.95 per cent, at 75,389 tons, as compared with the corresponding period of the preceding season. Reduced to terms of butter-fat equivalent, the grading of dairy produce for 11 months show an increase of 2.31 per cent, over the gradings for the corresponding period of the preceding season. N.Z. The directors of the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, have decided to recommend to their shareholders at the annual meeting on August 7 the payment of a dividend of lid a share for the half year, making a total disbursemetn for the year of Is lOd. TARANAKI OILFIELDS, LTD. Press Association , GISBORNE, To-day. The Taranaki Oilfields Company, Ltd., reports that at the Gisborne No. 1 well the (i£in diameter casing has been straightened up and run to 3,035 ft .1; heavy shale. The Gisborne No. 2 well has been drilled to I,oooft in firm sandstone, with some beds of sTiale. MINING NEWS OCCIDENTAL UNA.—The manager reports: “The country rock encasing the Loyalty reef is still of a good nature. During the week a fault was met with in the drive going east, crossing the face at right, angles. This has displaced the reef a little. By the end of the coming week we should know what change has taken place in the reef through the fault. The ore broken still shows colours of gold.”
