CITY CARRIES TOO MANY GUNS FOR SHORE
KARL IFWERSEN BACK The City-Shove game at. Devonport on Saturday was chiefly notable for the reappearance of Karl Ifwersen, tl«: old All Black footballer. Ifwersen played first five-eighth, and although he figured in the scoring register onlv per medium of a conversion, the veteran proved exceedingly useful in helping along the combination of the City side. It was really the better work of the City backs that won the game. Hudson, Heard and Ellis scored for City, Ifwersen converting Heard's try, while Stokes -put over a penalty goal’ leaving City winners by 11 points to 3’ , Fletcher played a very solid game tor City, and Jacob, at fullback, also showed up well. NOT AT ITS BEST Xortli Shore ought to have scored more than it did, but the homesters did not seem to have the knack of finishmg off their play. in the backs, stokes, McKay and Walsh were very sound. J Clark played a rattling good game in the pack, despite a nasty facial Injury. I his Player seems to be getting back to ms best. form. Lynch, at rover, was also good.
