BETTER MUSICAL TASTE
BROADCASTING RESPONSIBLE LECTURER FROM LONDON According to Mr. Ernest Jenner, L.R.A.M., of London, who arrived yesterday afternoon by the Arawa, grand opera is once more popular at Home. When he left, a season of grand opera was being played at Covent Garden and every seat was filled. German open*, was extremely popular, and the Italian section which followed it was received enthusiastically. Broadcasting has done a good deal to improve the taste in music, said Mr. Jenner. Excellent programmes are given and this has been responsible for attracting more people to concerts. Mr. Jenner is pianist, organist and conductor. He studied under York Bowen and Tabais Matthay and was at one time a teacher at the London Royal Academy of Music. H© is on his way to take up the position as lecturer at the Wellington Training College, and is realising a lifelong ambition in coming to New Zealand.
