CONFERENCE OF LOCAL BODIES RECENT INCREASED SUBSIDIES A move is being made by the Manure wa Town Board toward seeking a grant on the annual charges on loans already expended on the construction of roads in permanent material. This is in view of the substanti-1 increases in subsidies granted by th« Main Highways Board to local authorities which have deferred the construction of their roads, as compared with that made to local authorities in South Auckland, which have completed their works. A conference of local bodies biU been called for July 13, and the On* Tree Hill Hoad Board decided last evening to appoint Mr. 11. B. Dobbi* and Mr. R. G. Clark as its representatives. It is expected special legislation will be necessary to authorise tb* payment of the proposed grant-
