GUNBAR SAILS

ANOTHER SEAMAN SECURED COMPANY WINS A POINT The dispute on the small coastal steamer Gunbar was settled last evening and the vessel sailed at 7 o'clock for Gisborne and Napier. The crew protested against the dismissal of a seaman and the company decided to re-engage him. He, however, refused to sign on on Tuesday evening when requested, and held the vessel up. The executive of the union took the matter up yesterday, after the company had decided to engage another seaman, but the crew still refused to take the vessel to sea. The union secretary then warned the men that if thej r did not yield they would all be dismissed, and the dispute was finally settled last evening when a substitute was signed on in place of the dismissed man.
