CITY COUNCIL WILL PROFIT FROM OTHERS

WATER BILL OPPOSED DECISION AT BIRKENHEAD Opposition to the draft of the Auckland Water Supply Bill, designed to give effect to the recommendations of the Water Commission, was made in a resolution by the Birkenhead Borough Council last evening. Mr. H. Clark said the bill’s effect would be to prevent local bodies around Auckland from going in tor a separate scheme. The Auckland City Council would be allowed to make a profit out of other districts supplied. The decision will be sent to Mr. A. E. Harris, member for the district. Support was given a resolution by the Northcote Council, saying that the present water position did not call for any further immediate expenditure in regard to the Waitakere scheme. Tne North Shore Water Board should devote its energies to present economic sources of supply.
