GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE

YOUNG MAN PLACED ON PROBATION William Henry Gough, aged 24, was charged at the Police Court this morning with the theft of £7 13s from David Sutton, of Kapier. For the accused, Mr. Clark said that, since an earlier probation order had been made nearly a year ago, Gough had made a determined effort to reform. He had walked from Napier to Auckland looking for work and was employed by a firm of bakers who were willing to take him back. It was unfortunate that accused had lapsed when so near to completing his term. After considering the probation officer’s report, the magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, said that he would give Gough another chance and increased his term of probation by six months.
