ARREST OF TAXI-DRIVER CHARGE OF NEGLIGENCE Press Association. ROTORUA, To-day. The inquest on John O’Connor, the cyclist who was killed by being knocked down by a motor-car on Friday, was opened on Saturday and adjourned sine die. A taxi-driver, Arthur Duncan, whose car was brought to the garage with a shattered wind-screen and other signs of ill-usage on Friday night, and whose account of his movements was deemed unsatisfactory, was arrested and charged with negligently driving a motor-vehicle, thereby causing the death of John O’Connor on Friday night. Sergeant Hogan, representing the police, asked for a remand to July 17, which was granted, bail being allowed self in £2OO and two sureties of £IOO each.
