EXPERT IN METALS
BIRMINGHAM PROFESSOR ON TOUR OF WORLD (Although Professor Thomas Turner, formerly the holder of the Chair of Metallurgy at Birmingham University, is attracted by the iron sands and gold mines of New Zealand, time does not permit him to view them. The professor, who retired from active university life eight months ago, is on a brief tour of the world. He has already visited South Africa and Australia, and is now on his way back to England, a passenger on the Niagara. which arrived in Auckland today from Sydney. A past president of the Institute of Metals, Professor Turner is also on the advisory council of the Imperial Institute. He is particularly interested in New Zealand, because of the Dominion’s splendid exhibit at the London headquarters of the Imperial Institute “There one can see. in miniature. New Zealand farm lands, and the different phases of industry in he Dominion. It is very interesting to dweller in the Homelrmd. who, like myself, has not had an opportunity of personally visiting New Zealand.”
