Sunday. “The News of the World” understands that the cable conference is advising the handing over of the Government cable and external wireless systems to the merger. It insists that the latter must be owned, controlled, and operated by British subjects. Secondly, while the Governments of Britain and the Dominions are relieved of certain financial liabilities, they retain the power to regulate the cable and beam rates. Finally, control will revert to the Government in wartime.
