“CHURCH WILL NOT LET MISSIONARIES DOWN”
£6,000 WANTED URGENTLY No less than £6,000 is required by the Board of Missions of the Anglican Church by July. “It was hoped, though, that an exceptionally generous Whit-Sunday offering would more than equalise matters, but (reports the ‘Church Gazette’) the collections were about £2.000 less than was anticipated. In many cases the deficiency has been made up. “Approximately £6,000 is needed if the Board of Missions is to meet all its obligations in full. It is not to be contemplated ‘letting down’ our New Zealand missionaries in Melanesia, China. India and Polynesia, but if that amount is not available on July 7, there is no other alternative. “An earnest appeal is made to church people to come to the board's assistance.”
