Poets Corner—
FLOWERS OF ATLANTIS (Written for THE SUN.) Little inky-black cloud lines On the blue of the satin sky. Pull of fanciful things. The flowers of old Atlantis, That loved the wanton breeze, Would toss their shining petals And call him from the trees; And he would come a-wooing Among the star-strown ranks. And dance with all the Kingcups Upon their coloured banks. The flowers of lost Atlantis. That bloomed in sea-wet air , 'Were gathered by the ocean To wreathe upon her hair: Now, withered and forgotten, In caverns green and. deep. They lie where she has tossed them : Long-faded, fast asleep. The flowers of lost Atlantis Arc dead. and. out of mind. But all their lovely faces Are printed on the wind — And there's a breeze comes softly Sometimes in tioilight air, And whispers of Atlantis, And flowers that blossomed there. —A. R. T>. FAIRBURN.
