THIEVES ACTIVE
ONEHUNGA SHOP RAIDED BUTCHER IS CAREFUL When Mr. D. Heslop opened his butcher’s shop at the corner of Queen and Trafalgar Streets, Onehunga, this morning, he found everything in disorder. Further investigation showed that intruders had been busy, having effected an entrance by removing a - panel from the back door and turning the lock from the inside. All likely places where cash might be kept I were thoroughly ransacked, but as j no money was there the searchers were compelled to leave empty handed. This is the second occasion recently j that the same shop has been broken > into. On the former occasion three j young men were apprehended by the j constable on duty as they were ; leaving the premises with small parcels of meat, and were subsequently dealt with at the Onehunga Police i Court. Since then, Mr. Heslop has ; made it a practice to empty the cash- j box himself when closing the shop JEWELLERY STOLEN While Miss Helen Paterson was absent from her home in Turama Road, Royal Oak, laxst evening, the house was broken into and a small quantity of jewellery was stolen. Entrance had been gained by breaking a fanlight at the back entrance. The house- had been searched j thoroughly.
