HOCKEY
TO-MORROW’S MATCHES PERSONNEL OF TEAMS At present, weather prospects ar© not favc rable for high-class hockey to-morrow. The grounds at Remuera are sodden and players will have difficulty in keeping their feet in to- i morrow’s matches. Taken as a whole, however, hockey men have had little to complain of as regards weather in the earlier part of the season. The early match, North Shore v. University, to be played on No. 1 ground at 1.50 should be closely contested. To date the students have eight championship points and Shore six. Both teams started badly, but as the season progressed better form has been shown particularly in the case of Shore. Areta and Mount Eden are to try conclusions on No. 2 ground at 3.5 p.m. Areta has accumulated only three points and stands at the foot of the grade. Mount Eden is in fourth place with seven points. On paper it seems that Eden will be victorious, but Areta has the reputation of springing surprises. The principal match of the day will be the struggle between Somerville and Sc. Luke’s, ancient rivals now holding first and second places, respectively, on the championship ladder. Red and White will meet on No. 1 at 3.5 p.m., and a tense encounter
should, on the season’s form, issue in favour of Somerville. The teams are as follow: — < Senior Grade Areta.—Wilkie, Carter, Hay. Ashley, Hughes, Sweeney, Dunn, Taylor, Savage, Gray, Cahill.
