RUGBY FOOTBALL

AUCKLAND UNION MEETS PRINCE OF WALES CUP GAME A deputation from the Te Tokerau Maori Rugby Football Executive, consisting of Messrs. Turei. Cooper and Jones waited on the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union last evening with regard to the Prince of Wales’ Cup. Mr. Turei explained the position with regard to trial matches and asked for permission to play a trial match in Auckland on August 11, and to take a percentage of the gate. The trial match would be between North Auck-land-Auckland and King Country-Ma-niapoto. Mr. Turei said the deputation was acting under advice from the Maori Advisory Board in Wellington. He considered Mr. Frost’s offer of 50 per cent, of the gate to be reasonable, and the union decided to offer that percentage for the game. In regard to the return match to be played against Waikato on Saturday, Mr. Tilly was appointed manager of the ' Auckland team and Mr. Kronfeld. assistant manager. Messrs. Frost. Keegan and Cooper were appointed an entertainment committee. The Suburbs Club was granted permission to take up collections at Avonadle each Saturday, providing the club undertook to supply a list of receipts to the union at the end of the season. The New Zealand Rugby Union advised that H. Hudson had been reinstated. With regard to the case of W. F.
